Here are some of the activities and ways in which Gateway people get involved:
Son Beams - Parents and Toddlers Group
On Wednesday mornings between 10am and 11.45am Son Beams provides a welcoming environment where parents and carers can gather with their toddlers. There is a variety of toys for the children and activities include story time, song circle and crafts. The adults have opportunity for conversation and all enjoy refreshments.
Fish & Bricks Pre-School
Fish & Bricks Pre-school is completely inclusive and offers places to all children from our local community from the age of two and a half to when they are school ready.
We are open from Monday to Friday 9.15 am - 12.15 and are able to offer breakfast and lunch club most days during school term times. We are able to offer Two Year Funding and Free Entitlement to eligible children. Through play, toys, games, painting, arts and crafts and more structured activities, children are given every encouragement and support as they learn and develop to their full potential building confidence and independence as they prepare for the transition to local schools.
The most recent OFSTED inspectors’ report gave Fish & Bricks a rating of ‘Outstanding’.
Trekkers and Sprite - Sunday activities for 3 – 16s
Sunday School groups called Trekkers provide appropriate activities for children aged 3 through to 11 years. Through learning and fun the children’s awareness of God is awakened. Sprite provides for the 11s – 16s. It’s a combination of having fun together and learning and talking about the important things of life with God.
Xchange is a drop in support group for parents of children with special needs. It offers light refreshments; an opportunity for parents to meet and learn from the experiences of others; information about support services and support in applying for benefits.
Several times each year we arrange Breakfast meetings. Apart from enjoying a hearty and/or healthy breakfast, a speaker is invited to come to present their thoughts and experiences. We choose speakers who can talk on subjects which relate to topical issues of the day.
At Gateway Baptist Church we have links with other groups and organisations which regularly use our premises.
